Golden Key Design Award

Designers and companies awarded with the Golden Key Design Award during the Belgrade Furniture Fair show the vitality of the cultural climate in the Balkan area.

The Golden Key Design Award awarded the best Belgrade Furniture Fair’s exhibitors who shoved innovation in the furniture design field.
The international jury was composed by: Miha Klinar (Gigo Design, Slovenia), president of the Jury, Vesna Pejovic (Kako.Ko Design Studio, Serbia), Nikola Radeljkovic (Numen / For Use, Croatia) and Matteo Zorzenoni from Italy. The main judging criteria was focused on user experience, quality and innovation rather than on products’ forms.

In the category of seating furniture – chairs,  Golden Key got manufacturer Prostoria from Croatia for the chair Strain, designed by Simon Morasi Pipercic. When it comes to kitchens furniture and dining items category the winner was Artisan from Bosnia and Herzegovina for the Invito Collection composed by the table, chair and bench, designed by Michael Schneider.

In the category of home furniture – beds, sofas, and armchair were nominated Catra Home from Serbia, for the sofa Feuille and Natuzzi from Italy, for upholstered armchair Re-Vive. Golden Key in the contract category won producer Ton from Czech Republic, for the Split chair, designed by Arik Levy using sections of wood that are divided in two and then bent in different directions. In the same category was nominated producer Pedrali from Italy for the Babila chair.

In the office furniture category, young serbian designer Danko Radulovic was nominated for his innovative Ergonomically Optimised Working Unit, an online service, with user-friendly interface, where each user can create an office desk that is fully adjusted to his own personal habits and ergonomy developed in ENSCI les ateliers, Paris.

During the ceremony Vesna Pejovic underlined how young designers from this Balkan area should have more courage to “knock” on the producers door and in the same time the producers should be more opened to develop their innovative ideas.
