Reciprocity design liège was inspired by the place where it originated: Liege, “The Ardent City”, a pool of creativity at the heart of Wallonia. Central to this event is the desire to build strong relationships, encourage exchange, stimulate debate and support innovation.
Reciprocity design liège was inspired by the place where it originated: Liege, “The Ardent City”, a pool of creativity at the heart of Wallonia. Central to this event is the desire to build strong relationships, encourage exchange, stimulate debate and support innovation.
With the general direction of Wallonie Design and the artistic direction of Giovanna Massoni, it focuses on design with a social impact; the participation of designers and citizens in the process of public service innovation; teaching and learning as a cradle for a new ethical awareness in the role of a designer; and new models of cocreation, production and microintrepreneurship, together they form the subject of a common reflection within the framework of an international event that acts as a meeting point and working tool. Far from being a simple showcase that makes a guest appearance every three years, Reciprocity’s life blood is as a multidisciplinary laboratory that is ongoing as a collaborative and lasting project. The second edition of the Triennial features exhibitions, film screenings, workshops, seminars and debates. And for the first time, the programme encompasses architecture and graphic design, and a series of extramuros events that take place in other Belgian and Euregio Meuse-Rhine cities.

The Meeting Point is a pulsing hub for the Triennial, acting as an info- and press point, a space for partners and sponsors, and a place to enjoy the local food & drinks. The 2015 venue is RElab, Liege’s FabLab, which is running its own activities dedicated to makers culture and presenting an exhibition in three containers on the Place Saint-Etienne.

Each features lab methodologies and social design from a different context: 3D print design; Experimentation: food design; and Slow design. Reciprocity’s welcome point is housed in a fourth container. RElab’s headquarters and the Meeting Point is also home to the meeting room, where Reciprocity and its partner organisations host a series of events focused on social innovation, open source design and DIY, in a setting furnished with Artek’s Alvar Aalto collection.
