United Nude: Ice Shoes

During Vogue Fashion’s Night Out United Nude launched in Taipei their new 3D printed shoes, designed as if they were sculpted from a block of ice.

For the opening of their pop-up store at the Shin Kong Mitsukoshi shopping mall in Taipei during Vogue Fashion’s Night Out, United Nude launched the Ice Shoes, simply designed as if they were sculpted from a block of ice.

Balancing magically at a staggering height of 21 cm, they are designed for printing on 3D Systems’ CubePro® desktop printer consisting of 3D printed sculptural wedges using PLA filament that gets combined with a stitched leather upper.

Rem D Koolhaas, Creative Director of United Nude, explains “The 3D printing technology allows us to experiment with new shapes much quicker than before, without big development costs and for very small quantities. Designing and making a unique shoe for a special occasion was never this easy before. I have to admit I really like this immediate way of working!”
