Gio Tirotto: Amphora
A low-cost industrial process gives shape to a purely sculptural and decorative object in the last project developed by Gio Tirotto for Secondome Gallery.
The ancient Greeks used to say: “A vase to be nice must be functional and to be functional it must be nice.”
The amphora is the oldest man-made packaging, today sorted as an objet of tradition or exhibited as a decoration.
Amphora – a project by Gio Tirotto for Secondome Gallery – uses a complete industrial process, normally tied to low cost, to become a sculpture and decorative object, deprived of his containing function trough a manual seam which makes it empty, closed and unique.
