Arisen in 2001 out of the ashes of Maison Chamszadeh, cc-tapis innovates today’s rug production processes with unusual lines, motifs, finishes and colours, while retaining a huge respect for tradition.

The new designs for this year’s Design Week include a collection by Chiara Andreatti, born in 1981 and a designer for Lissoni. “I wanted to bring in the primitive by revisiting the Berber rug (ed. note, from Maghreb)” – explains Chiara – “sullied with graphic signs drawn from the early-20th century Weimar school.”

The traditional weaving technique used for kilim rugs – which closely interweaves warp and weft strands to create a smooth surface, with no visible warp strands – is adopted in this series for the two bands at the rug’s edges. The central section is worked with a higher weave typical of the classic rug – in which short strands (the pile of the rug) are knotted on the weft strands – making the pile higher than at the edges.

The collection currently features two designs and a third will be added in the future.
