It is an interdisciplinary team of engineers and designers who share the vision of combining research with aesthetics to create a whole new way of developing and producing sustainable products. The first collection made of karuun will be presented at the SaloneSatellite Milano 2015.

Out for Space first took the stage with the rediscovery of the long-forgotten rattan. Rattan is a type of palm native mainly to tropical areas in Africa, Asia and Latin America, which provide an ideal warm and humid climate. With the help of a patented process, natural rattan is lent a characteristic coloration, as well as improved properties for weathering and stability.

The name of this processed material is karuun. karuun enables the use of rattan in previously unimaginable ways and carries the promise of a new, environmentally-friendly material for high quality products.
