Rolex. Una passione per l’architettura
Great architects and great watchmakers have much in common. They must lavish on each tiny detail the same level of attention given to the overall concept.
Quality and minute accuracy must be present in each and every part, however small and hidden. The best architecture, like a watch, meets the highest standards and provides a benchmark for others to follow.

The exhibition highlights the Cellini collection of watches which evoke the finest examples of contemporary monumental architecture, where grandiose proportions and clean lines are accompanied by a modern reading of space and light.
Through its building programmes in Switzerland and overseas, Rolex subsequently developed relationships with world-renowned architects such as Michael Graves, who designed the Lititz Watch Technicum, a school for watchmakers in Lititz, Pennsylvania, USA, and Fumihiko Maki, who designed the Rolex Toyocho Building in Tokyo and the Rolex Nakatsu Building in Osaka. Rolex also played a major part in the creation of the acclaimed Rolex Learning Center in Lausanne, Switzerland, which was designed by Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa, of SANAA, for the Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL).
