The Radiographic Paintings
With Les Tableaux Radiographiques, on view at the Biennale Internationale Design Saint-Etienne, Isabelle Daëron seeks a balance between sensitive dimensions and technical devices.
Isabelle Daëron has designed Les Tableaux Radiographiques as part of a public commission for a unit of radiology (University hospital) in Angers.
Medical imaging techniques (MRI, CT, etc.) give life to the invisible part of the body. By revealing this imaginary, Les Tableaux Radiographiques attempt to restore a balance between sensitive dimensions and technical devices.
Les Tableaux Radiographiques are bas-reliefs designed from MRI views of the brain. They tell the living oscillating between the organic and the plant, like the sentence of Francis Hallé “Animals are confused plants, turned inside out like a glove, with infolded leaves and roots in their digestive tract. Plants are fantastic animals, their insides turned out, bearing their entrails like feathers” (In Praise of plants, p. 50).
