Moroso Concept

The twelve finalists of young artists Moroso Concept for contemporary art will be asked to make a versatile work conceived specifically for Moroso venues.

The names of the 12 finalists and 5 judges for the 4th edition of the Moroso Concept for Contemporary Art to be held in 2015 have been announced.
Launched as the Moroso Award in 2010, it aims to document, support, and bring further value to the works of artists, less than 45 years old who work in Italy.

The young artists selected for the 2015 Edition of the Moroso Concept for Contemporary Art Prize are: Alessandro Agudio, (Milan, 1982); Alis / Filliol (Pinerolo, 1979 / Mondovì, 1976); Alice Cattaneo (Milan, 1976); Giulia Cenci (Cortona 1988); Cristian Chironi (Nuoro, 1974); Giulio Delvé (Naples, 1984); Domenico Mangano (Palermo, 1976); Andrea Nacciarriti (Ostra Vetere, 1976); Andrea Romano (Milan, 1984); Marinella Senatore (Cava dei Tirreni, 1977); Namsal Siedlecki (Greenfield, Mass, USA, 1986); Carlo Gabriele Tribbioli (Roma 1982). These artists will be asked to make a versatile work conceived specifically for Moroso venues. Then the 12 projects will be presented at a major exhibition held from 28th March to 24th May 2015, at Villa Manin in Passariano (Udine).

The names of these 12 finalists are the result of the discussion amongst the jury, which is composed of Andrea Bruciati, independent curator, Patrizia Moroso, Moroso’s art director and Marina Abramović, special host of this event.

During this last phase, a second jury (composed by Carlo Bach, Art Director at Illy; Gianluigi Ricuperati, Creative Director at Domus Academy; Patricia Urquiola, Designer; Daniel Libeskind, Architect, and Anna Mattirolo, Director of MAXXI Arte) will select, among the twelve finalists, three artists who will be offered the opportunity of producing their site-specific work in Moroso’s New York, London and Milan showrooms starting from 2016. The exhibition will be accompanied by a publication that provides in depth details on the research theme conducted by the protagonists of this edition. This project provides a focus on each artist comes togheter with a short text by a curator that overstep the simple works’ display.
The experts involved into this year’s editorial work are: Laura Barreca, Cristiana Collu, Michele D'Aurizio, Ilaria Gianni, Antonio Grulli, Emanuele Guidi, Andrea Lissoni, Matthew Alexander Post, Alessandro Rabottini, Chris Sharp, Giorgio Verzotti and Eugenio Viola. This volume written in Italian and English will feature an introduction of the 36 selected artists and twelve descriptive sheets dedicated to the finalists, creating a lavish iconographies and a bio-bibliography work, edited by the independent curator Eva Comuzzi.
