Launched today on Indiegogo, LAMPP, is a smart light and a lamp shade designed by Jordi Canudas, that uses your phone screen as its light source.

Designed by Jordi Canudas, LAMPP is a smart light that uses your phone screen as its light source. LAMPP is a lamp shade, that optimises and redirects the light coming from the screen and a mobile app, that allows users to choose the adequate atmosphere for each situation.

With the LAMPP app (to be developed for Android and iOS) you can control the color and the light emitted by your screens, play music or define the connectivity on your device. It has 6 preset modes, such as “Sunrise” that lights up when your alarm clock starts ringing, “Party” that reacts to music or “Night” with an intimate, slow fading rainbow. There is a stretch goal, a funding target set by the project creator beyond the original goal, to develop the advanced LAMPP app that we envision, that would come with extensive software to let you edit and pre-set your very own atmospheres.

The LAMPP shade was designed to optimise and redirect the light emitted by the screens of our devices, like if we could physically inflate the flat screen of our phones. The final form balances the joyful, organic inflation of a “light balloon”. The shade is made of injected silicon and it suits all standard phone sizes up to the new iPhone6 or Samsung Galaxy. LAMPP will be available on Indiegogo for the early bird price of $40 (international shipping included) and supplied in boxes of one, four and twelve units, or larger quantities if requested. With regard to the production we have partnered with Haythornthwaite Design in China, known for their exquisite quality standards.

The team currently comprises Jordi Canudas, product designer (MA RCA) and leader of this project; Andrew and David Haythornthwaite, in charge of the manufacturing of the LAMPP shades; InQBarna, responsible for programing the LAMPP app; O-D-D (Oficina De Disseny), responsible for the design of our identity; Raúl & Gonzalo, in charge of the campaign video and most of the photography; Victor Viña (MA RCA), interaction designer and lecturer, have been advising us on the app interactive design; Andrea Ordax, freelance journalist, is our PR person and Julia Mariscal, working in the PR team and in charge of replying questions and comments.
