Graffe: 30/70

Graffe reinterprets aerated concrete with the collection of lamps lathed from the white blocks, named after the relationship between solid (30%) and air (70%).

Graffe invents a new application of cellular concrete, whose resemblance to concrete conceals the aerial nature that makes this material easy to work on the lathe.
30/70 is actually the relation between solid and air volume of autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC), a lightweight, precast building material that simultaneously provides structure, insulation, and fire – and mold – resistance.
30/70 is a pendant lamp from a solid concrete block: the link with the original aspect of the module is a substantial part of the project while its identity is embodied by the white porous surface. The blocks are squared and turned with a wood lathe. The system of counterweights is completed by a set of pulleys in HPL (High Pressure Laminate) to move the light in space.
