Sense of Sound
In “Sense of Sound” exhibition at Z33 (Hasselt), sound manifests itself in many shapes and forms: vibrations, magnetic fields, electrical discharges or waves of feedback.
All works shown at “Sense of Sound” have one thing in common: sounds can always be traced back to friction that makes the world move.
Sound is created when energy escapes and through the air or through materials transforms itself into a sensory sensation.
Overtoon, a production platform, offers various artists a chance to develop art works in the medium of sound by offering long-term residencies. The works produced are then exhibited and distributed in Belgium and abroad. The research and knowledge platform looks for joint ventures with research institutions and it organizes lectures, debates and workshops with experts in the field of acoustics, sound and sound-art.
All the works of art in the exhibition are new, created by the artistic team and current or future Overtoon residents. In some of the exhibit spaces works-in-progress are shown, as prototypes and sketches.
