This month’s Domus is even more packed than usual, with many additional feature pages and readers are being given special in-depth living analysis in conjunction with Milan Design Week.

Beecroft, Cucchi, Garutti, Ontani and Pistoletto, five major Italian contemporary artists, describe their living concept to Domus and illustrate the way they occupy domestic space.

The analysis continues with a fascinating article on useful furnishings by Ruggero Tropeano and an enthusiastic piece on new craftwork by Manolo De Giorgi.

Next comes the magazine’s regular selection of contemporary designs: Fumihiko Maki’s skyscraper in New York, the first completed on the World Trade Center site; an office building in Switzerland designed by Peter Märkli; and the Inês Lobo housing development in Portugal. There are also projects by Christian Kerez, Sevil Peach, Altofragile and Alberto Campo Baeza.

This month’s educational focus homes in on Michele De Lucchi’s interior architecture courses and workshops at IUAV in Venice, first, and then at Milan Polytechnic. Domus also visits the renowned Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem, today one of the most prominent design schools on the international panorama.

There is more current news with contributions by Joseph Rykwert, RIBA Gold Medal winner, and Piero Manzoni, the subject of a large and comprehensive retrospective at Palazzo Reale, in his very own Milan; and a preview of the 7th Triennale Design Museum curated by Beppe Finessi.

The magazine always ends with Feedback and Elzeviro, and this month’s issue features Milan as seen by Pierluigi Cerri, who describes a previously unknown and unexpected city, and an essay on living by Remo Bodei, one of the leading philosophers of our times.
