Riviera Table

During Maison&Objet 2014 Dadadum presented Riviera Table, a tribute to the rough stone tables of the Swiss grottos designed by Alfredo Häberli.

Through its structure and the material used, the Riviera collection is an emphatic tribute to the stone tables of the grottos, the inns dotted along Ticino’s valley where eating outdoor is a must. In these inimitable epitomes of the local art of good living, the tables often consist simply of a thick stone slab across to vertical slabs. The Riviera valley, which irrigates the whole of Ticino, is also the original centre of the stone market in the canton.

Designed by Argentine-Zurich Alfredo Häberli, the Riviera collection is mobile, versatile and multi-purpose with its coffee, bedside and console tables. There are currently four pieces in the collection. The tables are all the same yet different, like members of the same family with different personalities.

Given its open-air roots, the idea was to bring the outdoors inside the home and use the tables individually or as a nest. The ingenious game created by the imbrication of the different parts allows, in a larger scale, the creation of a mineral stone living room. The round platters are sculpted on the edge of the mounts or slightly overhang, the edges polished. The entire piece has a matt finish.

Launched in 2012 by the graphic designer and entrepreneur Demian Conrad, the Dadadum brand was created in Switzerland, between Ticino, Grisons and the city of Lausanne.

Out of respect for and in homage to the specificities inherent to Swiss design (functionality, technical expertise, minimalism), Dadadum is a clear continuation of Swiss heritage, a point underlined by the frequent allusions to alpine values and traditions.
