Salone Satellite: Caroline Olsson

At Salone Satellite, the Norwegian designer presents two lamps inspired by the analogue world.

In her first solo presence at the Salone Satellite, Norwegian designer Caroline Olsson has taken the analogue world and craft tradition as points of reference and sources of inspiration for Pencil Light, table lamp table and Switch, a wall lamp.

Pencil Light is a table lamp but also a small wooden receptacle that holds pens and pencils. "It is an invitation", explains the designer, "to write and draw more." The closing mechanism stems from the craft tradition, with a large metal screw that is both a distinctive formal motif and a handhold for moving and directing the light.

Switch, on the other hand, is a wall lamp displaying an old-fashioned, oversized central switch that seems to be flaunting its on/off function. Made of opaline glass, the lamp has an aluminium base painted the same colour as the glass.
