Minale-Maeda and Wrong Colours

The Italian-Japanese duo explores design production on a small scale in a new collection of furnishing accessories showcased by Plusdesign.

After their Inside Out Furniture collection, which sought to redefine the design process by directly involving the user, Mario Minale and Kuniko Maeda continue their research, focusing, this time, on the small-scale production of contemporary design pieces.

The Italian-Japanese couple based in Rotterdam found the perfect "partner" for this project in Milan’s Plusdesign gallery, a brand specialising in limited editions of objects by designers and artists, and present the new Wrong Colours collection of modular accessories at the 2013 Furniture Fair.

Midway between crafted and industrial production, Wrong Colours is a collection of small pieces in simple, rigorous forms. Made of light-coloured wood with coloured anodised-aluminium inserts, the overall result is a flexible, light and multifunctional collection open to multiple configurations.
