Under My Tree

Made of metal and wood this waterproof lamp designed by Florian Brillet for Ligne Roset is an invitation to an outdoors life, to summer dining in the garden: Under My Tree will be presented at the upcoming Salone del Mobile 2013.

Approached by Ligne Roset to design a garden lamp, Florian Brillet created a portable lamp to hang on tree branches, that will be presented at the Salone del Mobile 2013.

"The choice of portable lamp is quite pragmatic as it is the most adaptable to all situations. It can be hung, held or moved to where it is required. Under My Tree is an invitation to dine outside, an object conducive to conviviality," according to Florian Brillet.

There are two distinct parts to the lamp. The lacquered aluminium sides of the lamp are at a slight angle, allowing the diffuser to emerge enabling the lamp to be placed on the ground. The handle is made from unfinished wood. "I wanted it to be like the handle of a tool. Its lead is 5 metres long which enables it to be moved with ease. This solution is more sustainable than the use of a battery. A simple object without any electronics or maintenance and a longer life span. I try to design objects that can be kept. They must be simple in form and design, durable or so that they do not break down."
