Next, we depart for the New Building of School of Architecture in Tsinghua University, to visit “Cube of Brackets”, a graduation thesis project of three 5th year undergraduate students, to experience the order and practicality in the complex and the preciseness and accuracy of craftsman spirit.
Another part related to academies is the program called “The Master in Smart Buildings and Sustainable Design” at Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) of Turin, which is intended for graduates in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Architectural and Built Environment studies or Design studies who wish to explore the built environment to turn economic and environmental constraints into creative design opportunities. Riccardo Balbo, the IED Turin Director, is invited to introduce this course in detail for all readers.
This issue also looks into the Chicago Architecture Biennial, which has a theme of “The State of the Art of Architecture”, and interviews Sarah Herda, the Co-Artistic Director, to share the unique charm of this architectural event. Therefore we will see the way that architecture makes Chicago a perfect place for a new major event celebrating the city’s incredible legacy of architectural innovation.
In addition, we fortunately have a dialogue with Marc Newson, the master in industrial design, to decode the secret behind his huge success, where he also speaks of his feelings for China.
