Domus Mexico, Central America and Caribbean 15
Materiality is fundamental in the design process, from the conception to the construction and performance, becoming the main theme of the edition # 15 of Domus México, América Central y el Caribe.
With interviews and examples in architecture design and art, from experimentation with materials to combining traditions, like in the case of Priscilla Bianchi’s textiles which use Mayan ancestral knitting techniques and symbols, mixed with quilting, to capture the spirit of Guatemala; or the proposal of Paredes & Alemán Arquitectos that conceived a rural library in Guatemala using bamboo, where partitions perform as walls, doors and blackboards for meetings and school activities. The versatility of Rojkind Architects in Mexico is evident in the four projects presented, from a continuous metallic surface for a dancer´s studio, to a perforated facade that transforms an old house into a restaurant.
