Starck’s spaceport

Building work is due to start in 2007 in the New Mexico desert on the utopia of Richard Branson, owner and founder of the Virgin empire. Virgin Galactic, the first astroport for commercial flights in space, for the take off and landing of the VirginSpaceShip (a perfected version of SpaceShipOne by Burt Rutan). The design of the structure, 90% of which will be underground, is by Philippe Starck and cost 220 million dollars. The first flights out of the earth’s atmosphere are expected in 2008. E.S.
