Pino Tovaglia: a homage to one of Milan’s top graphic designers

One of the undisputed protagonists of Italian graphic design from the 1950s to the 1970s, Pino Tovaglia is now the subject of an exhibition promoted by Art Book Milano (with contributions from Pirelli, Flos, Nava Design) and in collaboration with the Scuola Politecnica di Design who hold part of the material. The result? An event not to be missed, both for the completeness of the material on show and for the discerning eye of the curators, Massimo Pitis and Cristina Dell’Edera, who have drawn from the designer’s archive the most significant pieces (as well as those previously unseen) from a career that ranged from graphics to products design, illustration, photography and interior design. Twenty years after the last retrospective (curated by Aiap in Bologna), the exhibition also offers a chance to rediscover one of the greats of the ‘Milanese school’, synonymous with systematic and rationalist graphic design. In addition, an initiative that will make fans happy, to coincide with the exhibition, publishing house Corraini is relaunching a book by Pino Tovaglia “Giuseppe verde, giallo, rosso e blu”, published for the first time in 1973 as part of the “Tantibambini” series edited by Bruno Munari for Einaudi.
