Ettore Sottsass’s “other life”

Ettore Sottsass has always taken notes on life using his camera. It is a kind of autobiography, a journey back in time that the author, designer and architect has staged in Naples at the Museo di Capodimonte. Curated by Achille Bonito Oliva, the exhibition consists of more than 400 photos taken between 1943 and 2003.

Through a series of black and white images it reveals Ettore Sottsass’s “other life,” the island of Filicudi, his second home for long periods of the year.

Also in Naples, at Castel Sant’Elmo, around 40 works by Pino Pascali will be on show from 6 May to 18 July. Pascali, who died in 1968 at the age of 33, was one of the chief precursors of Arte Povera. L.B.Until 16.6.2004
