Palestine c/o Venice

Curator Salwa Mikdadi and commissioner Vittorio Urbani, director of Nuova Icona, have chosen seven emerging and established artists to represent the Palestinian territories at the Venice Art Biennale:

Taysir Batniji, Shadi HabibAllah, Sandi Hilal and Alessandro Petti, Emily Jacir, Jawad Al Malhi, and Khalil Rabah. The themes addressed by their works, ranging from sound and multimedia installations to site-specific interventions, could not omit the marginality expressed through the refugee camp’s structural geography, as well as the capacity to connect global and local themes.
