Anish Kapoor in Brescia
His work centres around the composition of archetypal forms, concave and convex, the use of surprising materials such as PVC in a wide range of colours, but also an in depth knowledge of modern technology. For his giant installation for the Tate Modern, Marsyas (2002), Anish Kapoor in fact worked with an engineer with a poetic soul, Cecil Balmond, deputy chairman of the structural engineering practice Arup.
As such Kapoor surprises us each time in creating works that live outside physical limits, perfect examples of the synthesis between art and architecture. Born in Bombay in 1954, the artist lives and works in London. This is his third one man show at the Minini gallery in Brescia. L.B.
