Miami Houses

The French photographer Leo Caillard pays homage with his works to the Becher – founders of the Düsseldorf School in the 70's – dominating with equal mastery the shot and its post production.

The series Miami Houses is a comparative study of the different huts of South Beach, Miami.

The goal is to make sense of the pictorial object through the front shot. The latter is identical from one image to another, flattens the depth preserving the essence of painting: color and shape.

Thus, if each image individually may seem trivial or anodyne, the set of images of the same type gains strength. As you scroll through the images, the cottage becomes a "graphical form" and ceases to exist as such, it stands motionless on the horizon with the texture of the sea as background.

Leo Caillard (Paris, 1985), graduated in 2008 at Gobelins L'Ecole de L'Image in Paris. After his studies he spent a year in the United States before returning to France where he lives and works. In addition to personal research he works for several clients, including Volkswagen, Amnesty International, Ibis, Eurostar, Playstation.
