Tim Defleur: PLI&CO

Young French designer Tim Defleur created PLI&CO, a simple lamp made of a sheet of steel that plays on the combination of warm bending and graphic folding.

PLI&CO is a simple lamp composed by the minimum of elements: a light at the end of an electric chord which seems to be planted in a sheet of folded paper.

The body of the lamp is made of one sheet of steel to ensure the weight and so the stability of the lamp. The sheet of steel is bended on a shape/mold and then simply hand-folded on another shape/mold. After that, the shape stays in place thanks to electric welding and the bulb socket.

PLI&CO uses bulbs we usually use in refrigerators or in kitchen hoods: a warm lighting with a vintage aspect. Of course the user can also create another feeling using another bulb with an E14 base.

Defleur first works with pieces of paper – making 3D drafts, then raw mock ups and finally better-made prototypes. This lamp plays on the combination of warm bending and graphic folding, that gives the lamp a feminine and masculine aspect at the same time.

To underline the minimalist effect, obtained by the minimum of elements, each of them is painted in different colors, playing with unexpected combination. The project is still a prototype and is not yet in production.
